Stewart, the Spider

By | November 9, 2020

There is a giant spider named Stewart. So giant that he occupies a tiny island. Stewart is not a good swimmer. He has a dream of leaving the island to travel. He dreams of finding another spider just like him, giant and curious.

Stewart’s best friend is a turtle, named Johnny. Johnny comes to visit Stewart every winter. He would share exciting tales about his journey. Stewart would listen attentively and note down the stories.

Decades passed, Stewart is still on his island, reading, thinking and writing. Johnny has married, and now brings his whole family to visit Stewart every winter. Their friendship stands the test of time. Johnny occasionally tries to encourage Stewart to leave the island and go on an epic journey of discovery. Stewart would look at Johnny, look at himself and look at the island underneath him, feeling excited and hopeful.

Did Stewart pull the plug and leave? I don’t know. There is no island-sized spider near me. You might see him tomorrow, tell him I said, “Great job Stewart! Come visit.”

Now, your turn, any thoughts? I care to know.
