Extreme has a bad rap. I’d say, why not go there and see what happens.
Have you watched ‘Free Solo’? Don’t you want to try something like that in life? Do you have a wall you’d like to climb?
Losing control is a scary thing for the human brain. It feels like we are dying.
After our basic human needs are met, we can quiet our old brain from barking at nothing.
We are not in any immediate danger. We are safe.
There is no better time to try something that scares you when you are actually safe.
Try that thing that scares you the most. The one that you think might kill you.
Go the extreme. Push so far that you don’t think you could push anymore.
Human potentials are limitless.
Another human being just like you can do it, so it is humanly possible.
(Thank you Alex Honnold!)
I want to try base jumping. Thinking about it makes me dizzy. It is precisely why I want to do it.
My brain will say “ Are you crazy?! Why would you do that? You are gonna kill us.”
I will reply “ I might die doing that, but most likely not. I will do my homework and learn from the pros. I will do it smartly and safely. Plus, life will kill us all. I’d rather die doing something exciting.”
A little madness might just be what I need. I won’t know for sure until I try.
(I am not telling you to go do a big scary thing without preparation. Use common sense and be smart about it. I am also not encouraging you to try drugs. Don’t. Stay away from anything that could alter your brain chemicals. You don’t know how dangerous you can be to yourself. You have limitless potential to be good and evil. Be careful.)
