Debate between Trees

By | November 21, 2020

There are at least 17, 000 different types of seeds. At least 30% of the seeds are planted. Out of the 30%, 10% survive the harsh environment and grow to be trees that house birds and bugs. The lucky few look majestic and stay protected to witness life on earth. The luckier few turn into books tattooed with magnificent ink. The rest of them have fate that I am forbidden to speak about. Confidentiality clause.

The lucky few and the luckier few don’t often see eye to eye. You would think that trees are amicable creatures with the mind of a Zen monk. No. Some trees can be nasty. They debate about the value of their unique contribution to the world much like how lawyers argue in court. No side is going to be deemed right or wrong, but that doesn’t make the argument less heated.

One side thinks, as a tree, protecting water and preventing floods, housing an ecosystem to provide continuity of life, is the most noble way to be. The other side thinks, only through published words, ink on paper, will save the entire world through shaping the minds of the most malleable and dangerous living creature that seemingly controls the future of earth.

One side argues, books can be digital. Earth cannot. The other side argues, there could be another earth. Plus virtual reality will decrease the needs for physical trees altogether.

The heated debates between the most generous and life giving tribes are adorable to witness. For selfish humans, the more trees the better, don’t you think?

Now, your turn, any thoughts? I care to know.
