Hi friends,
How have you been? What’s your current growing edge? Something that you are working on? Do you want to share with me? I’d love to know.
For me, I am working on paying attention to what matters to me and letting go of the rest. It is quite difficult to settle down to write when the world is on fire. It is quite difficult to settle down to write and working hard to build healthy, open, honest and emotionally connected relationships. Being a human is occupying all of me.
What I am learning is that: yes, relationship requires work. And no, you cannot be the only person who is committed to doing the work. You can give your 100% to the half of the load you need to carry. The other person needs to show up and carry their half too. If they are unwilling or unable to, you need to choose between meeting your needs elsewhere, or carrying the weight of a relationship and growing resentful over time. I advocate for the former. Resentment looks awful on me.
Enough rambling, write to me!
A poem visited me this morning and I am so glad I woke early to catch it. It is about being your own witness and staying open and curious to this journey of becoming and unfolding.
Love,
X.Y.Zheng
Crossroad Being
I stand at the crossroad looking
Left – the past self, looking
Right – the new self,
Confounded by this tug of war
Standing still, I am watching
Time fleeting
The sun cycles through.
I stand in front the mirror greeting
A human being, looking
Unfamiliar
Have I seen her somewhere? Were we friends?
Would she trust me? Could I trust her?
I look at her eyes, carefully
The nothingness – peaceful and certain
I don’t know what she will do.
The becoming – mysterious and vast
I don’t want to stop looking.
She is inviting me to see. The seeing,
Will require all of me.
