Afternoon Walk

I took myself out for a walk
The sun was at an inviting angle
The lake calling me for a swim

A splash of silky clouds caught my eye
The mixture of blue and white whispered romance
It was a perfect moment to treasure
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath

I saw a sign saying ‘Closed. We will see you soon!’
Lovers hugging in the middle of the sidewalk
Friends chatting face to face on a park bench
People jogging

I stopped and stared at the bed of tulips in front of city hall
An urban farm where a baby cow was chilling

I smelled freshly cut grass
Played with puppies
Said hi to another human

I want to
Keep walking
At this pace
