Elliot

Elliot. Elliot who?

It took Claire three minutes to recall her husband’s name. Elliot combed her hair silently while Claire sang a Danish lullaby. Claire has lost a significant amount of her memory and her doctor didn’t provide a promising prognosis.

Elliot looked at her beautiful wife while she slept. It is difficult to say goodbye to someone you have loved your whole life. Elliot and Claire practically grew up together. They have shared secrets since they become aware. They helped each other get through the most confusing and alienating years of puberty. They worked hard to not let the world and adulthood tear apart the precious layer of their friendship. While Claire was in America, Elliot wrote her letters. When Elliot got his heart broken for the first time, Claire took him camping. Both had marriages with other people; both nursed and parented children.

It took Elliot and Claire a lifetime to circle back to each other, to finally clasp their hands and feel at home. Now, Elliot needs to decide whether to honor Claire’s wish to die before she forgets Elliot. The days are getting closer and closer. Elliot wants to comb her hair one more day. Just one more day.

Now, your turn, any thoughts? I care to know.
